How to Produce Evergreen Content for Your Blog

Evergreen content is extremely valuable for any website or blog. As this type of content remains relevant for years to come, it can serve your website or blog for a longer period of time. It is enduring and capable of receiving visitors for along time from different sources.

But, how can you write evergreen content? Here are few tips on writing evergreen content.

Write on topics that don’t change:
First you need to understand the topic on which you are going to create your content. Not all the topics are suitable for evergreen content. It’s really hard to write everlasting content on news items. Take a topic that has a timeless value and then write on that topic.

Add value to current issue:
Even if you write on current issue, you can add value to the content. Include your opinion, analysis and cross references. Discuss its long term effect. Don’t just keep writing the thing as it is. This is really hard enough to make news items evergreen but if you can master the art of adding value, you can at least make them longer lasting.

Avoid time sensitive expressions:
Try to avoid expressions like today, tomorrow, recently, this week, this month, next week, next month, lately, etc. This type of expression tends to give a time-frame to the content. It may seem to the readers that the content is not fresh and that’s why no longer valuable to them.

Put date at the bottom of the post:
Don’t let the reader see the date of the post before he starts reading. If the reader finds the date first and it’s a long time ago, then chances are that the reader won’t like to read the post any longer. Better, let the reader read the content first. (I’m not to be blamed. Believe me, all my posts are new!)

Remove the calendar:
A blog with timeless content should not have a calendar on the sidebar. An evergreen content can turn out to become old only because of the calendar. Writers of travel story or news story can have calendars and they have value in those types of blogs, but not for you.

Remove monthly archives:
Like calendar, monthly blog archive also can give a time frame to a timeless content.Your contents are evergreen and you should remove monthly archives. You can have the archive in drop-down format or in a separate page.
